There’s a disparity between what “We the People” want and what “They the Media” hope to create as the narrative. Ever since he won the Iowa caucus, Ted Cruz has been dismissed and attacked non-stop in a concerted effort by the Washington Establishment and the thought-manipulators of the mainstream media. They really hate this guy, and that’s a good thing.
Some may question my judgment in wanting the media to attack him. After all, the majority of low-information voters are going to make their choice based upon one or more of the various narratives that surround the GOP nomination process. My reason for wanting him attacked is actually twofold.
First, this is the best test possible. Ronald Reagan went through it. In fact, it took him three times before he was able to pass the test. It shouldn’t take as long for Cruz and more importantly we don’t have enough time left to fix things, so I’m very hopeful that he will persevere.
Second, I have faith. We have to in this election just as in all things in this life. Most of us are aware that we need a principled Christian conservative in the White House after eight years of the exact opposite. Ted Cruz is that person. God’s Will is what must be done and if it’s His Will for Ted Cruz to be the next President of the United States, it will happen.
That fact doesn’t remove the responsibility from those of us out in the world. We are more than helpless bystanders. We were put on this world to act, to make a difference, and to be the vessels of the Holy Spirit that God wants us to be. A Cruz victory would be a victory for the Judeo-Christian values that still exist in this country even though they are under fiery attack. Our call to make disciples of the nations should not require that we overcome the roadblocks set up by our own government, but if that’s the case, so be it.
From now until the nomination is decided, Ted Cruz will be getting attacked from every angle. The left will attack him because they fear him more than any of the major candidates. The Republican Establishment will attack because he represents an existential threat to their control of the party just as Reagan was. The mainstream media will attack because 80% of it is liberal and 18% backs the Republican Establishment. The 2% that remain are being pushed out of what is considered mainstream. Soon, all truly conservative media (no, not the faux-conservatives at Fox News) will be relegated to the fringe.
Every victory will be downplayed and every misstep will be magnified. We’re seeing it currently with the Ben Carson debacle. The campaign staffer who thought it prudent to imply that Carson was dropping out based upon his strange decision to leave the campaign trail made a poor choice. Cruz could have fired this person but has stood by whoever it was. Whether that’s prudent or not will be known soon, but it’s arguably the right decision.
Here’s the thing, and it applies to the birther issue as well. With every major news outlet condemning Ted Cruz for rigging the election, why have we not heard about a single Iowa voter who was going to vote for Carson but who chose Cruz as a result of the falsification? On the birther issue, if Cruz is not eligible to be President, why haven’t any of the candidates sued him? Keep in mind that he can’t get a summary decision on this from the Supreme Court without being sued by an “adverse” party such as a competing candidate. They know this. That’s why they won’t sue. They prefer ambiguity over reality. It’s better to cast doubt on Cruz rather than give him the opportunity to let the Supreme Court rule that he’s a natural born citizen.
True conservative Americans are watching their best hope for a Reagan Revolution being attacked from all sides. We should be used to this. We should be prepared to fight back for the sake of the country.
