I was moderating a small panel at a conference about two and a half years ago that focused on Facebook fans. The two panelists represented the two different sides of Facebook promotion at the time: one focused on local quality fans and the other focused on bulk fans. After the debate, one might have called it a draw. That was over two years ago. Today, there’s really only one side that deserves any representation at all. Local businesses should focus solely on getting local fans, period. To get a broad reach of fans outside of the market area as a local business can do more harm than good.
Most of us can agree that when traveling for work or when taking a vacation, it is definitely not about the journey and all about the destination. Planning, organizing, and coordinating a trip can make many of us trip out and possibly loose a few hairs, but the website Tripit, has come to our rescue and helps us keep the hairs on our head and our much needed sanity.
In an ideal world, we would have the time and resources to create four types of content: converting website content, engaging website content, SEO content, and social media content. Throw in public relations content, supporting content, and consumer resources and now you have a ton of content needs without a ton of time to create it.
I know I should be flossing daily. The dentist is counting on me to follow this seemingly simple direction. Yet, I don’t do it. (Don’t tell!) Habits are hard to start and even harder to keep. Remember all those New Year’s resolutions? Sigh…. Instead of beating myself up though, I acknowledged a habit I already have that I can use to my advantage – surfing the internet. I can harness the power of my social media networks to help me achieve my goals.
Today, it seems like big banks and corporations are constantly in the news. With the recent financial crisis, there have been massive government takeovers as well as buy outs from other banks. This banking crisis was caused by loans that were not paid and was also one of the direct results of the housing crisis. Unfortunately because of the global connectivity of the world today, the events that occurred on Wall Street and in other cities aside from New York escaladed across the ocean to Europe and other places abroad.
I’m what you might call an Apple Hipster. I was using the Macintosh and Apple IIe before they were cool. The various companies that I’ve worked for over the last decade and a half converted me to be a PC guy, but definitely not by choice. That’s why it was a surprise to those who know me when I bought a G1, the first official Android phone, back in 2008.
