Social Media Milestones

From Friendster to Charlie Sheen, social media has experienced more ups and downs in the last decade than most would believe imaginable. That’s one of the takeaways from this infographic by Edelman Digital. The overall motif may be a little busy to our liking, but that might be exactly what’s necessary to represent the turmoil of social media. The data is strong and the concept is flawless.

  1. Curious that social media supposedly starts with Friendster. In 2000, AOL had, what 23 million users and community was a big part of that. People had pages with photos and chat and status.

  2. Great infographic. It really highlights the creative ways that businesses have used social media. Since everybody is on social media today, you really need to offer something unique to get people involved and attract attention.
