Social Media Effects on the Real Estate Market (Graphic)

Many would agree that social media is emerging as one of the easiest forms of marketing for standard retail products and services, but what about the big purchases? Automotive Social Media is already big, but the biggest purchase most people make in their lives is only now starting to show signs of catching the “social media bug.”

For most, purchasing a home is something they do once a decade at most. Is maintaining a strong presence on the relationship-building social media platforms a real strategy? This graphic by Fixr says yes, and does so very nicely I might add.

Sure, what makes real estate different from any other online service that involves money exchanging hands…? One could argue that social media could contribute to the recovery of consumer confidence in the market itself, since the first thing a company would need to do is build a customer base that understands its service while establishing credibility for themselves.

Savvy developers and agents would be wise to include social media in their marketing strategies as a way to not only connect with existing customers, but to pool from acres of online buyers who had previously limited themselves to generic sites like Craigslist or for shopping homes.

Our company has gone a step further for the property market in social media. We have developed a unique worldwide Facebook app PROPERTY BOOK whereby individuals and realtors alike can upload properties for sale via credits and share them with all their contacts. Searching for property and contacting seller is free for everyone.

While these numbers are impressive, seeing the agents/brokers with thousands of thousands of followers doesn’t mean they are influential. Furthermore how realistic are those numbers? Were they gained honestly or was some sort of automation incorporated to inflate numbers? Numbers do not equal influence. I have no doubt in my mind that social media is having a significant impact on how real estate is sold and how agents are interacting with buyers and sellers, but I question the true influence of that top 10 list.

Ok…this seems like an exact duplicate of another blog post that looks the same way. So…given that now I have no idea who wrote the original, I am going to repose this question: Is it possible to take a strong real estate SIM (social internet marketing campaign) and just iframe it in a custom real estate branding app. We need something similar to this real estate branding app

But even more targeted. Also…I would like someone who actually has had experience doing iframe fbml apps for real estate vs. just regular fb apps. Here is the original frame source

Thanks in advance to whoever answers this question! (also, no lame spammy answers please!)
