Every few months I take a serious look at my chosen profession and wonder if it’s really a tool for good or if it’s real “use” is to promote the negative in the world. There are many examples of good happening through social media whether through revolutions that weren’t possible a few years ago from oppressive regimes or the simple connection of people with others who they need to meet.
I normally come to the same conclusion every time:
- Social media is neutral
- Most who use it are indifferent
- Some use it for good
- Some use it for bad.
My final disposition at the end of each social media soul searching sessions is that it’s a wash. This time, I’m starting to lean towards social media being a bad thing.
Three of the four truths of social media are relatively constant. It’s the second one, “most who use it are indifferent,” that I’m starting to realize may lean towards the negative side of the argument (which, in essence, pulls social media as a whole towards the negative side). The indifference and self-promotion/exhibitionism that plagues social media might not be harmful in itself, but is it preventing people from becoming more? Are we becoming too indifferent to the real world, too complacent that our social media “goods” are enough to make a difference?
This is a question that social media users need to ask themselves, but before you try to answer it, watch this video first.

“All this machinery making modern music
Can still be open-hearted.
Not so coldly charted, it’s really just a question
Of your honesty, yeah, your honesty. ”

Social media can be used for either good or bad, it all depends on what YOU do. Make an honest effort to keep it a good place for fun, creative, rational people to hang out in. Destroy all the spam, marketing, and trolls. That being said, social media can overwhelm you and take you away from essential things in the real world.
“Is the world fundamentally a better place because of science and technology? We shop at home, we surf the Web… at the same time, we feel emptier, lonelier and more cut off from each other than at any other time in human history…”

Like everything in life social media also has some advantages and disadvantages.
But For me it has brought my near & dear more closer to me in the following ways:-
1.I can always be connected with my friends and families wherever i be – At home, in the office or anywhere outside.
2.Social media has hiked the profit of my business by 20%, particularly facebook marketing. So it has brought my clients and customers more closer to me.
Therefore i can say that social media is bringing the world together!
Social Media has played a big part in World Wide Web and to users as well. The real value of social media solely depends on the purpose of the user: business or fun. In terms of business, social media is one of the best ways to promote products and, likewise, interact with clients and customers. As to its personal use, it brings people closer together, especially those who share the same interest. We can keep in touch with our friends, loved ones more often.
