When Erik Qualman from Socialnomics put out the first Social Media Revolution video, it blew my mind. The information, the styling, the quality – it was a revelation. Subsequent long and short variations as well as refreshes were strong but not quite what I had seen in the first one.
It’s no surprise that the latest version was still somewhat of a disappointment. Don’t get me wrong – it’s amazing – but it’s amazing in a ‘Godfather 3′ way. Godfather 3 was a good film, but not near the quality and emotional impact that viewers felt from the first 2 movies.
Here’s the video. You tell me – am I crazy? Is it equally amazing and I’m just being a purist? Am I obtuse? OR, does the video seem to recycle some of the old data and serve more as a refresher rather than something that is truly, well, revolutionary?

I see what you’re saying, but I feel like we’re just somewhat jaded at this point. Social Media Revolution was pretty much the first of it’s kind and quality. It was such a moment of glory and excitement when we all first saw that video that nothing will ever compare. Also, I feel like the music played a HUGE part in why this did not match up. I’m glad he released versions of this video the old music. LOVING the Godfather analogy, though!
