UPDATE 2: New Digg is Down.
UPDATE 1: New Digg is Live.
People announce that they’re having a special day on Twitter all the time. They mention birthdays, travel days, and special events. It’s Twitter. It’s lifestreaming at its finest.
When Digg CEO mentions a “bigg day” people watch and wait to see what exactly he means by that.
Of course, the question that many in the Digg community will be asking is whether or not his Tweet means that Digg V4.0 is rolling out today.
Two things should be noted about Rose. He loves Twitter and he often uses it to mess with his peers. Case in point occurred shortly after his ominous “bigg” tweet when he asked Michael Arrington why he was selling Techcrunch. Arrington is not selling Techcrunch (that we know of) but that didn’t stop Rose from dropping the bomb on his 1 million+ Twitter followers.
We will know whether the New Digg is rolling out today or not by the end of the day. Other speculation at this point is premature.

I’m really looking forward to the new Digg. I hope they solve some of the issues that have plagued the site in the past and make it more relevant to the news I want. It’s too easy to game the system at the moment; I hope they’ve implemented something to take that away or at least less likely to affect my personal Digg results.
I wonder what’s the difference with Digg V4.0. I’m really looking forward to getting the hottest news I want without being hoodwinked to a link I care less to see. In my opinion, maybe they will be more strict with submissions…or perhaps, they just did a design overhaul and an upgrade of storage space. We’ll see..
I am surprised with new digg and are very curious to know updates there.
Thanks for the information.
You’d like updates? OK.. here’s what’s new:
“..The Upcoming section is gone, requiring “following” of sites and users to see unpromoted content.
Mainstream media outlets and power users have been given even more power over the front page than regular users, which is the opposite of what needed to happen.
The default homepage is now this “My News” garbage, and cannot be changed.
All your favorites have been deleted.
Comments from you and your friends automatically pre-empt the main discussion.
The yellow/green highlighting of your and your friends’ comments is gone.
You can’t view all comments at once. If there are hundreds, you can’t view all of them, period.
The comment box is three lines high, not resizable, and types out light blue text on white.
Links to comments point the wrong way, and use longer, more confusing URLs.
Timestamps have been removed from the main page and all search results.
The bury button is gone.
The report button is gone.
Historical submissions, like the Obama victory thread, the original iPhone announcement, the HD-DVD key scandal, etc., have had their digg counts reset and their comment sections mangled.
The color scheme has changed, junking the site’s characteristic blue/yellow/green navigation bar for almost pure white.
The iconic thumbs up/down have been replaced with generic arrows.
Browsing a user’s comment history, including your own, is frustratingly hard.
All usernames are now lower-case (except for mine, and only because I contacted support about it).
The RSS feeds no longer work.
All third-party tools that used the old Digg API are now broken.
