As we approach the 1 year anniversary of the day that Kevin Rose and Jay Adelson said they were going to allow more communication between the Digg staff and actual Diggers, they have unveiled 2 categories on the Digg blog.
Okay, it’s not that big of a deal, but in Digg-addressing-user-concerns terms, this is a moment in history to be remembered.
On September 11, 2008, seven years after the WTC attacks, Digg opened up their Community and Technology categories on their blog. This promises to (at least at first) bring more content and information coming from the information black hole that has been Digg headquarters. After failed attempts recently to sell the site despite having a captive audience, this may signal a new strategy going forward.
(paraphrasing the possible thoughts of Digg’s senior staff) “Nobody’s going to buy us for (what we think) we’re worth. We might as well work on making it better.”
Baby steps. Just breath and take baby steps, boys. You’re doing fine.
Here is the video that they posted. Not a bad start. I’m so proud of them.
