The portion of the interview below titled “Comcast CEO: Twitter Changed the Culture of Our Company” is a brief overview by Brian Roberts about Twitter.
Is it really making a difference for them? I would say, “Yes”.

Man I have a luv hate relationship with Comcast..lol
I think any company that uses Twitter in any way will benefit.
If Twitter changed Comcast’s culture, then I guess it’ll change your and my business culture alike.
I suggest all my students and clients use Twitter not as direct traffic generating, but as social media gatherings for relationship starts, bonding and stuff like that.
What a great example of a big company adjusting to the new space of social media / social networking
It reminded me of an experience I had a while ago.
I was aked to review the web strategy for a large community org. Cutting a long story short, I recommended a discussion forum on their site and they reluctantly agreed. On the basis that in my stakeholder engagement the need forum was highly requested, they probably felt that they had no choice.
Well, the forum went live and it was a big hit.
A few months later the org closed the forum and I asked them why. Their reason was blunt. People had been asking questions and then had started to complain, on the forum, that no-one from the org was answering the questions.
The org actually runs a large call centre and I asked them why they would not have considred taking just one of their quite large phone staff and dedicate them to the forum, they looked at me if I was mad.
I am hoping that they one day come to their senses and this interview might be a great watch for them

It is a great video, provides answers to many questions which one comes across when thinking about Twitter.
Comcast’s culture is the sickest, most toxic one I’ve ever been a part of, and I couldn’t get out quick enough. In short, it is Dilbert. They value numbers only, not quality of service (despite current initiatives) or certainly not their employees. Hardly anyone likes working there, but they continue to do so either because they’re not qualified or too scared in this economy. Constant micro-managing IS the norm, across the board. Doesn’t matter if you’re a “suit” or a tech–you better be prepared to be constantly harassed, lied to and mistreated by your own company.
Some actual events that I witnessed:
-My boss actually emailed a spreadsheet full of EVERYONE’S annual performance rating out to all his direct reports so we all saw what each other were rated–and everyone who worked for each of us. Wow–never thought I’d see that level of unprofessional behavior anywhere!
-A fight on the office floor between 2 employees where the “F” bomb was dropped several times and they almost came to blows.
-A salesperson forging a customer’s name on a contract.
-Deliberate lying about customer’s business status and product applications in order to sell to make monthly quota.
I could go on and on…
So glad to get out–I don’t know why anyone would subject themselves to such conditions when there ARE many better opportunities out there. Life is short people, don’t waste it working for this company.
Willful blindness
Comcast Terminates employee after suffering a Traumatic brain injury at work.
I believe Comcast’s dismissal of this man constitutes unlawful discrimination against a physically handicapped employee injured while at work. No question Comcast’s CEO Brian Roberts has bitten the hand that feeds him. Not with a nip, mind you, but a full-throttle chomp. This type of discrimination should stir national debate, worker’s injured on the job should not only have excellent care but the support of there Company. In talking with Comcast Headquartered in Philadelphia there management teams show Willful blindness, intentionally putting themselves in a position to be unaware of facts or criminal acts. Brain Roberts is the CEO and is responsible for his management teams actions or lack of actions.
My indictment of Comcast or Brian Roberts may be overwrought. But now that Comcast is not paying this man’s medical expenses and finding there only intent was to save money is disheartening. Its now up to us to pay for his care. Brian Roberts made $40.8 million last year, Comcast is now threatening to raise there rates? How high are they going xfinity?
Can you say Human rights violations ? in 2004 Brian roberts was the recipient of the 2004 Humanitarian Award from the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Now in 2011 We can Accuse him (Comcast) of human rights violations! Greed is not good!
As a Comcast employee I see horrible treatment by upper managment to employees and was asked to deny Comcast part in routing porn to a kids channel in Utah. We were aske to deny and act as if this would be impossible for us to have done. I still have the Emails sent us by Managment big mistake! Brian Roberts is the CEO but has no idea whats going on under him! Stackhouse, Burke, Jackson, Kiriacoulacos, Scott run wild deny everything and could care less about the Employees.
Comcast’s Brian Roberts has built his Company on the blood and sweat of employees that have been denied proper care after serious injuries. Is Brian’s goal to be Gordon Gekko? Brian Roberts has become a symbol in popular culture for unrestrained greed.
