If you have a business page setup on Facebook and looking to gain more local people on your page as well as spread your brand further within your community, Facebook Nearby is a new mobile location based feature that has been helping profiles thus far but as of last month, Facebook decided to add a global update to their feature and include “Nearby” for businesses as well.
Many may agree that the reason Google+ hasn’t quite taken off as many may had thought it would is due to lacking in the ease of socializing. Although circles are a great way to place people and choose who we want to directly share with, we have become accustomed to finding and interacting with people a little more openly and simpler.
This is not to say Google hasn’t tried to make their social networking site more social, with Hangouts and Communities, they are surely putting great effort into adding features that are innovative and some that we are already familiar with elsewhere. Yet, it must be difficult to try and create a social network these days, especially with the competition and to try to succeed without mimicking them, even though you know from their lessons as to what works and what hasn’t.
The New Year has rung in and the Holiday Season is officially over. That means it is time to get revamped for the New Year and ensure your Dealership is staying ahead of the times when it comes to your social media strategy. You might already have one and think that it works so no need to fix it and you may be right, depending on your budget and your time, although the hopes is that many GM’s have resolved themselves in thinking that social media is a fad or has no purpose within the Automotive Industry, since if you haven’t felt the effects of what social media can do for your dealership it only means you are doing it wrong or have the wrong person or vendor aiding you on your behalf.
It is time to be blunt and straight forward about your social media efforts that no longer should be a back-burner priority since it should have by now been integrated within your marketing strategy as to how you not only create advertisement but how you can create engagement with others to build relationships. It is now 2013 and that means you no longer should have excuses as to why your dealership is not spending time on various social networks or appointing someone who continuously communicates to you as to what is going on because you care, even if you do not have the time to do it yourself, you care, not because it is social media, but because it is your brand and the means to connect and contact others in real-time is what is required of a business and you are a business. Period.
Therefore we are going to say farewell to negative thoughts surrounding social media and hop into the positive seat to drive your dealership into the houses and minds of potential buyers. As a dealership, you already know that one buyer can turn into generations of buyers, especially with your great staff and customer service. This is true for your presence on social networks, except now your efforts are amplified.
Here is a check list to ensure your dealership is starting the New Year off right.
There are many Facebook apps on Facebook and finding ones that best suit your page or profile means a lot of time needs to be spent searching or you may even be better off going one by one. Although the apps have been available to the public to create their own or to use them, let’s be honest, it’s like searching for a needle in a haystack to find one that does not have a glitch.
Since many of us have done the searching and trying out of many Facebook apps some of us have been more successful at discovering ones that work, however, this does not mean that we can remember the name of it or even find where to look for the specific app a friend requests more information about. Not necessarily because we don’t know where to look (although this could be the case) but often times we forget to rid of the ones we have tried and have failed us.
It seems like many people have fooled themselves into believing that Google+ is nothing more than a ghost town and perhaps the interactions on this social platform is not as quick as Twitter and Facebook or perhaps you haven’t circled the right people. Either way, Google+ is only going to get better and has already integrated its social platform into all of their other services, this is something we definitely need to watch since Google+ is the first social network to be able to do that as they actually have other successful investments, such as Blogger, Gmail, YouTube and oh yeah, Google Search Engine.
After the whole Digg incident when its original founders disregarded its users and changed its platform to highlight businesses, one would think that other social networks would learn how to treat its users, especially since it was the downfall of the original Digg (which has since been bought and taken over). The lesson was that no matter how influential you are to businesses, how credible you are for Search Engine Optimization or how many pageviews you can bring from a single popular post, users reign on Social Networks.
Promoted posts on Facebook is a simple, inexpensive way to gain more views on an article, promotion or exposure for your Facebook page, depending on what your marketing goal is will ultimately decipher your end result. Although it is an easy way of getting seen further on Facebook, you need to know when and what to promote so your efforts don’t become a waste of time or lose the true effects a proper promoted post can do for your business.
I know some people who happen to love YouTube and swear by watching its curated videos by users rather than television any day and although I cannot say that I am that dedicated, I do enjoy watching videos on YouTube from time to time, especially if it is a series of families or entertaining regular non-celebrity people, but sometimes I lose my spot to where I left off, YouTube has a solution for that problem.
If you like watching videos but often forget which video you watched last and have to sometimes spend time rewatching videos until your memory kicks in it can become a time suck and does not make watching YouTube videos all that fun for those who are not as dedicated of course. It can also be unfriendly to those who like to use the custom YouTube feature and perhaps use the same themed logo or static image, this in itself can cause confusion to your viewers although your efforts are to try and be unique.
